On October 20, 2023, in Kyiv, with the support of the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, a seminar on "The Role of the Nurse in Infection Control" was held, in which Tamara Globa, a hand hygiene instructor of the Infection Control Department, took part.

The seminar was initiated by Roman Kolesnyk, Head of the Department of Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control, and Olesya Krylova, Chief Specialist in Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control at the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

Speakers and moderators highlighted current issues in healthcare facilities:

use of personal protective equipment;
connection between antibiotic resistance and hand hygiene;
effectiveness of approaches to cleaning and disinfection of premises;
care of urinary catheters;
medical waste management.
Based on the results of the seminar, the participants were tested and issued certificates of continuing professional development with points.

The hand hygiene instructor Tamara Globa prepared and presented the results of the seminar to the medical staff of the institution.

The acquired knowledge and practical skills will be used in the hospital's structural units (including the outpatient clinic) to prevent infectious diseases and prevent their complications.
