Як допомогти собі, якщо ви втратили близьку людину

On May 9, 2023, practical psychologists conducted a class with military personnel on the topic "How to help yourself if you have lost a loved one."

Unfortunately, the war brought a lot of sadness, grief and pain to Ukrainians. Many have lost loved ones, acquaintances and relatives. You can never be ready for it, it is difficult to accept and survive.

It is very important, even under these circumstances, to take care of yourself. By taking care of yourself, you help yourself cope more easily with the pain of loss. Yes, it is impossible to get rid of these emotions, but it is possible to create a new future for yourself. So we talked to the military about steps that can help them achieve a healthy life:

Take care of nutrition. Food is energy. You will be able to regain strength and energy to continue living.
Physical health. If necessary, consult a doctor.
Follow the regime. Get out into the fresh air. You should not calm yourself down with alcohol or pills.
If you feel like you want to be alone, do it. Grieve, cry, feel sorry for yourself.
Talk about the deceased. Talking about the person you lost is normal. Talk to someone who can listen. If you think you're being pushy, you're not, that's okay.
Try saying "died" out loud, don't say "gone". You have to make yourself heard.
All emotions during loss are normal. Don't be afraid of them. They will not harm you.
Allow relatives, acquaintances, friends to support you.
Allow yourself evil emotions. Do not forbid yourself to be angry, do not block emotions.
Allow yourself to ask the forbidden question "why?".
Everyone has their own grieving process, it is individual. You can grieve as much as you need. Only when it is difficult for you and you feel that you cannot stand it - ask for help, contact a specialist.
