Psychological rehabilitation of military personnel

On February 21, 2023, communication activities in the form of corrective work on the psychological rehabilitation of military personnel using esthetic therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy, autogenic training, and self-regulation techniques were planned and carried out on the basis of the "TMO of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for the Kirovohrad Region" on 21.02.2023.

Psychological rehabilitation is a system of medical and psychological measures aimed at restoring, correcting or compensating for impaired mental functions, conditions, personal and social status of people who have suffered mental trauma. It is also an integral part of general rehabilitation.

Psychological rehabilitation is the most important element of restoring mental balance. Its essence consists in the implementation of various effects through the psyche on the serviceman, taking into account therapy, prevention, and hygiene.

With the help of psychological influences, it becomes possible to reduce the level of neuropsychological tension, to restore the spent nervous energy faster and, thereby, to make a significant impact on the acceleration of recovery processes in other organs and systems of the body.

This is what distinguishes psychological influence from other means of rehabilitation.

The main goals of psychological rehabilitation are:

restoration of fighting and working capacity;
disability prevention;
social adaptation of a serviceman.
The main tasks of psychological rehabilitation include:

1. Establishing the nature and degree of importance of neuropsychological disorders, determining the individual and personal characteristics of servicemen's response to mental trauma and developing rehabilitation measures;

2. Removal of psycho-emotional stress, irritability and fear with the help of complex psychotherapeutic influences;

3. Regulation of impaired body functions, correction of the psychophysiological state by methods of psychotherapeutic influences;

4. Formation of an optimal psychological response to the consequences of mental trauma, mobilization of the individual to overcome the conditions that have arisen, education of the necessary willpower in military personnel;

5. Formation in personnel of clear ideas about risk factors and a conscious attitude to measures to eliminate them;

6. Restoration of social status, adaptation of a person to the conditions of the external environment by means of stimulating the social activity of a serviceman by psychological methods.

Effective rehabilitative influence on a military serviceman can be carried out by psychotherapy (that is, a therapeutic effect on a person by mental factors).

Among the most accessible methods of psychological influence on the soldier's body and psyche for use in military practice are: suggestion (autogenic training), self-suggestion (self-regulation), aesthetic therapy, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. A suggestion is nothing more than a purposeful mental influence, passively perceived by a person without critical evaluation. Such forms of suggestion as self-suggestion (self-regulation) and autogenic training have become the most widespread. Esthetotherapy - treatment of the beautiful, beautiful. Includes bibliotherapy - reading and discussing books. Bibliotherapy has a therapeutic effect on the human psyche by reading books. The use of specially selected material for reading as a therapeutic tool in psychiatry to solve personal problems with the help of directed reading. The main purpose of this influence is to distract the serviceman from acutely experienced situations in order to achieve a calming effect, relieve neuro-emotional tension, and normalize the activity of the nervous and cardiovascular systems. To ensure the effectiveness of esthetic therapy, it is important to select works of fiction, art books, reproductions, radio, TV and film programs, taking into account the tastes and conditions of military personnel.

Cognitive-behavioral therapy involves the use of a method of keeping a personal diary for formulating goals, creating one's own motivation and adequately assessing one's own knowledge, abilities and skills for achieving and setting goals, as an important part of the process of psychological rehabilitation of a serviceman.

Thus: psychological rehabilitation on the basis of our institution is an important component of the activity of our department, it ensures the maintenance of the necessary state of combat capability of the servicemen of our state, contributes to the prevention of disability, allows the restoration of mental balance, creates conditions for the adaptation of soldiers who have suffered mental injuries.
