We prevent tuberculosis

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis (bacteria of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex). The most common is pulmonary tuberculosis, but the disease can also affect other organs and systems of the body in addition to hair and nails.
Groups at increased risk for tuberculosis include any group of people in whom the prevalence or incidence of tuberculosis is significantly higher than in the general population.
Groups at increased risk of developing TB:
 children and adults who had close or focal contact with a TB patient;
 children and adults living with HIV;
 persons with newly detected residual fibrotic changes in the lungs who did not receive treatment for TB;
 children and adults with diseases that weaken the immune system (patients with malignant neoplasms, diabetes, patients receiving immunosuppressive therapy, TNF-α inhibitor therapy);
 persons who abuse alcohol or use drugs;
 migrants, including internally displaced persons;
 military personnel;
 persons registered as low-income;
 persons who were previously treated for TB;
 persons with chronic respiratory diseases;
 persons with pneumonia;
 smokers;
 persons with nutritional deficiencies or persons with a body mass index ≤ 18;
 persons with gastrectomy or gastrointestinal bypass;
 persons with chronic kidney failure;
 persons older than 60 years.
Tuberculosis develops in 10% of people infected with tuberculosis bacteria. People with weakened immune systems (due to chronic diseases or taking certain medications) and young children are especially susceptible to tuberculosis, as their immune systems are not yet formed.
For reference: according to statistical data of the Center for Medical Statistics of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine: in 6 months of 2023, the incidence of tuberculosis in Ukraine is 26.3 per 100,000 population, which is +12.8% more than in the same period of 2022. (23.3 per 100,000 population), in the Kirovohrad region for the same period, respectively, 44.9 per 100,000 population, an increase of +14.8% (39.1 per 100,000 population).
An important measure is the prevention of infection of healthy people: rational nutrition, healthy lifestyle, improvement of the social and living conditions of the population, regular medical examinations.
It is necessary to establish a diagnosis of "tuberculosis" as early as possible in persons who belong to groups that, in the absence of early diagnosis and treatment, have a particularly high probability of not being detected or a high risk of adverse health consequences.
Contact the polyclinic of the "TMO of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine for the Kirovohrad region", where you will be given a qualification consultation and a preliminary examination by therapists and an infectious disease doctor.
