The sector of social protection and support for victims and their family members (hereinafter referred to as the Sector) was created with the aim of providing comprehensive and general social protection for victims and their family members.

Functions of the sector:

- introduction of records of the needs of the affected persons and their family members;

- interaction with local self-government bodies and socio-humanitarian units of the police staffing, military units of the National State University, DPSU and units of the State Emergency Service on social and humanitarian issues;

- establishing an exchange of information with health care institutions regarding injured persons who need prosthetics, with the aim of monitoring their further entry into the centralized data bank on disability issues for free provision of rehabilitation means;

- escort of persons injured in hostilities and their family members, with the involvement of local social services to provide assistance to the person during the stay of the victim and family members in their service area;

- organization of work on providing assistance in the preparation of documents:

for receiving financial support by family members;
to receive a one-time benefit in case of death;
for victims to receive one-time cash assistance in the event of disability or degree of incapacity;
for the organization of medical or medical and psychological rehabilitation;
to organize recovery of lost documents of victims.
- entry of records of pensioners of the Ministry of Internal Affairs;

- drawing up certificates on the amount of financial support for the transfer of pensions;

- receiving applications and documents, their processing and forwarding to the authorized structural unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which give the right to:

assignment and recalculation of pension;
obtaining a certificate of combat operations, badges "Veteran of the war - a participant in combat operations", forms of vouchers for the right to receive travel documents (tickets) with a 50 percent discount on their cost;
obtaining a "Veteran of Internal Affairs" certificate and badges in accordance with the legislation, certificates on the right to benefits for family members;
receiving payment of compensation for unused vouchers for war invalids by the Fund for Social Protection of the Disabled.
The sector contributes to the creation of conditions for the return of the affected persons and their family members to a normal life, and also provides them with comprehensive assistance and support.
