The "Projective interview" method in classes on psychocorrection

On 04/03/2023, communication activities were held in the form of classes on psychocorrection of adjustment disorders in military personnel using the "Projective Interview" diagnostic complex.

In modern conditions, the requirements for the personal and professional qualities of military personnel have increased significantly. The effective performance of combat tasks is determined not only by a person's intellectual and physical capabilities, but also by his ability to show responsibility, independence, emotional and volitional stability, flexibility, the ability to make decisions and the desire to interact productively with other members of the military team in conditions of constantly increasing mental stress and fatigue.

The "Projective interview" method is used to collect data that should complement, clarify, expand and control the data obtained using other methods. The results of the interview help to draw up a psychological portrait of the serviceman, on the basis of which further individual work with him is built and recommendations to commanders and superiors can be developed.

A diagnostic block of projective methods (for example, the "Unfinished sentences" method) is introduced into the structured interview, which allows you to obtain a psychological conclusion on each serviceman as a result of the work.

The psychologist informs the client that all information provided by him is confidential and not subject to disclosure. However, the client is informed that in the event of a threat to the client's life and health (self-aggression) or the possibility that the client may harm the health and life of others, the information will be provided to the immediate commander (superior). An interview is a directed dialogue, a method of obtaining socio-psychological data using an oral survey. The interviewing method is based on the stimulus-response scheme, where the stimulus is the interviewer's question, and the response is the respondent's answer. Unlike a conversation, an interview is aimed at revealing the hidden motives of behavior, providing a person with assistance in their awareness. Psychological support of the subject is essential for the clinical interview. When conducting, the psychologist records not only answers to specific questions and features of the client's behavior, his gestures, emotions. A clinical interview performs both diagnostic and therapeutic functions and is carried out according to the following principles: it must be unambiguous and accurate, consistent, it assumes the adequacy of information, flexibility of conducting and objectivity of the survey.

In the process of clinical interview, a number of stages are distinguished: active interview, establishment of trusting relationship, situational support of the subject; a passive interview, during which the patient expresses complaints and the researcher collects a psychological history; identifying the subject's ideas about the possible and desired outcome of the interview and therapy; antipathy training, when the patient imagines the most negative consequences of his illness or lifestyle. During different stages of the clinical interview, various techniques are used, in particular, questioning, reflection, paraphrasing, clarification, confrontation, self-disclosure (casual conversation), pause (psychotherapeutic silence), finding ways to solve the problem, communicative reframing. The specialist listens to the client's presentation of problems; helps him clearly formulate the most pressing problem; helps to determine the specific purpose of your interaction with a psychologist. At this stage, clients talk mainly about difficulties, so it is useful to know the strengths of the client's character. The client has the opportunity to:

compare your problems with past and present successes;
formulate the desired result ("What do you want to get as a result of conversations with a psychologist?"), the purpose of counseling.
defining what will happen when the customer's problems are solved.
In this case, psychological help consists in providing the client with emotional support, stimulates his creative abilities, adaptive and compensatory capabilities. It is necessary to help the client to get out of a dead end, to overcome the rigidity of perception and thinking, which in the case of psychological difficulties has the character of an algorithm, a rigid set scheme from which the client cannot deviate. It is important to expand the role repertoire, which involves mastering a wide range of social roles in order to develop the most adequate, constructive and effective behavior in a given situation. At this stage, the psychologist can use any methods and techniques: paradoxical directives, homework, conversations with the client on the phone, drawing up a plan to change behavior.

Sometimes it is the clear speech and representation of the goal, awareness of one's own life perspective that can be the first step towards positive psychological changes.
